Dear Friends,
Welcome to the inaugural post of the Create Joy Cards Blog!
I’m Sarah, the creative force behind Create Joy Cards (sarahstorebo.com). As an empty-nester who stumbled serendipitously upon the wonderful world of card crafting, I found great enjoyment and an unexpected passion in creating handmade cards. I have always loved paper/ink — journals, cards, school supplies.
(You know that scene in “You’ve Got Mail” where Meg Ryan talks about the wonderful smell of school supplies — I relate! But I digress…)
All that to say that what started as a simple hobby quickly blossomed into a full-fledged love affair with all things paper, ink, and creativity as I realized the fun of individual card projects — each card is a mini-project in itself.
I’m excited to share this hobby with others!
Through Create Joy Cards, I aim to not only share my own crafting adventures but also to inspire and provide opportunities for others to connect through card crafting. Card crafting isn’t just about making pretty cards—it’s about forging connections, sparking joy, and embracing the beauty of handmade gestures in a world that often feels too fast-paced and electronically-driven. While getting any kind of personal mail is enjoyable, opening a handcrafted card is like a warm embrace from afar.
I plan to offer the following in this blog over time:
- Crafting Tutorials: Step-by-step guides to help you master new techniques and create stunning cards that will your friends and loved ones will love to receive.
- Behind-the-Scenes Peeks: Sneak peeks into my creative process, including my favorite tools, must-have supplies, and the occasional crafting mishap (it happens!)
- Creative Challenges: Fun challenges and prompts to encourage you to embrace more handwritten communications, card crafting ideas, and enjoy creativity.
- Card Sending Resources: Handy tips, hacks, and advice to help you feel more comfortable regularly sending handwritten communications.
So, grab your favorite paper crafting supplies, pull up a chair, and let’s dive headfirst into this wonderful world of making cards together. I can’t wait to see where this journey takes us!
With love and ink-stained fingers,
Sarah
